My name is Ellenor Day but many of you may know me as 'Ziggy' - a nickname that has stuck with me for over 20 years now! I am the owner/designer/buyer/marketing manager/finance person and generally everything related to the Urban Turtle business!

I have always loved art, design and all things crafty, and I love fashion, accessories and mixing colours... A business degree made me slightly more boring for a good few years, but in 2007 I decided I could combine both my creative talents and my business background.

It all started when I bought some beads to make some necklaces for myself to wear - something different that I wouldn't see 12 other people wearing when I went out! The Urban Turtle brand came about in early 2007 when I started selling a few pieces of jewellery I'd made for people who liked them. From there it snowballed and I made more, and more, and more, and more.

Now Urban Turtle also offers a full range of other accessories in our 'Readymade Range'. These items are carefully selected from quality suppliers to match the Urban Turtle handmade range. We are also now stocking handbags and belts.

Although we're stocking some other great accessories, the focus of Urban Turtle will still always be the handmade original neckware. I've even suprised myself in that some 3 years after the business started, I still actually really like making jewellery and growing this little business!
